The homie Mes hit me up the other day to let me know that our former Ground Opening crew mate, Johnny Polygon, has been doing BIG things. Since traveling and touring all over the U.S., rocking stages, entering and killing battles, it seems he has caught the eye of Dj Green Lantern. It was placing as a semifinalist in a battle over at MusicNation.com that caught Green Lanterns attention and resulted in Johnny signing to his label, Future Green Entertainment. He’s featured on Grand Theft Auto 4 and on the Nas x Green Lantern mixtape as well as the upcoming Nas album singing the hook on “Black President”. If you don’t know, now you KNOW!!!

Having picked a rapper as its headlining performance at this years Glastonbury festival was somewhat criticized, and Oasis’s Noel Gallagher annoyed by the gesture, stated Jay shouldn’t have been picked. In clever Jay-Z fashion, his performance opener consisted of a video with Gallagher’s remark while he performed Oasis’s Wonderwall, with guitar and all. The video explains it all, and is pretty f@%kin’ genius!

The Red Bull Big Tune producer battles (brainchild of DJ/producer/emcee—Vitamin D) made its way to Houston Wednesday night as part of their national preliminary tour, with a fresh batch of 12 selected producers to duke it out. Out of the 12 selected, two were Dallas’ own S1 (who recieved 2nd place last year behind The ARE) and Picnic. The featured guests of the night included producer Mr. Lee, emcee Willie D of The Geto Boys, and Dj Michael Watts of Swisha House. Two winners from each regional qualifier will advance to the national finals in New York this December. I dont have a lot of details on the happenings at the competition as of yet, but what I do know is that Picnic made it to the Final 4. Stay tuned, more details to come.

Big Tune Red Battle was nice. It was a blessing to be a part of such a smooth event. I got all the way to the semi finals and lost to EQ(congrats). Technically 3rd place. I had a blast all night regardless, win or lose, it was dope as hell. Shout out to Vitamin D, Jake One, Jonathan, Red Bull, and everyone else involved with this… Keep this sh*t goin!!!!. Matt Sonzala, thanks for the love man, I’m hopin to get in that mug next year and rock it again for Houston. Thanks again to everyone that came out to support producers trynna make a name for themselves…. and thanks to everyone that wished me luck. In the end, I met a lot of cool people, made some new contacts, and just had a blast. MUCH LOVE!!
Shout out to all the producers that were in it… and to the homies Pyro and Ryu(Sound MOB) on the win, them boys got some HEAT!!!!!

The Image Fulgurator is a creation by artist Julius von Bismarck of Berlin. Here’s a brief description of the gadget via his website:
“The Image Fulgurator is a device for physically manipulating photographs. It intervenes when a photo is being taken, without the photographer being able to detect anything. The manipulation is only visible on the photo afterwards.
In principle, the Fulgurator can be used anywhere where there is another camera nearby that is being used with a flash. It operates via a kind of reactive flash projection that enables an image to be projected on an object exactly at the moment when someone else is photographing it. The intervention is unobtrusive because it takes only a few milliseconds. Every photo another photographer takes of an object at which the Fulgurator is also aimed is affected by the manipulation. Hence visual information can be smuggled unnoticed into the images of others.”

Now I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan out there (sorry Pic), but I must admit, these are dope! They are the official R2D2 and Vader USB Hubs from Japan’s Cube Works. Both hubs offer four full-speed USB ports, play some appropriate sound effects, and every few minuets or so R2’s head moves and lights up while Vaders’ eyes glow when plugged up. Unfortunately these are only available in Japan for the time being, but I’m sure the powers that be will have these hubs available to us in no time. Hit the jump for more pics.

Now this is an office space I definitely wouldn’t mind working in. Completed in November 2007, the Kraanspoor office building, located in Amsterdam, is built on top of a concrete craneway in an old shipyard.
